The Governor’s cuts to child care and home care are the wrong direction for Illinois.
Hard-working Illinois families depend on child care assistance to maintain a stable job and seniors and people with disabilities depend on home care to get by day to day.
The Governor has proposed drastic cuts—cuts that would mean tens of thousands of families, seniors and people with disabilities would not get the help they need.
- Many families losing child care will be forced to give up work—entire jobs or crucial hours they count on to make ends meet—something none can afford.
- Many seniors and people with disabilities losing home care will be forced into more expensive care, like nursing homes, when they could continue living on their own with some help.
Unless we take action, these devastating cuts could take effect in just a few months.
